The Grown-Up Corner

Ideas, classroom tips, and conversation starters for the parents, teachers and caregivers helping Pip's world come to life alongside a child.

Why Pip?

Every Growing with Pip book is built around the same idea: there's no "right" way to color, feel, play or grow. Pip sometimes worries, gets frustrated, or needs help — just like the child on the other side of the page — so the books invite conversation instead of correction, curiosity instead of a right answer, and a little room to go at your own child's own pace.

Classroom & Daycare Tips

  • Keep a book (or a few loose pages) in a quiet-time or calm-down corner — coloring gives little hands something to do while big feelings settle.
  • Use a page as a nap-time transition: 5-10 minutes of quiet coloring right before rest time helps the room wind down together.
  • Start a "Pip of the Day" ritual — pick one page each morning and read its prompt aloud before free choice time.
  • Pair a page with circle time — many pages connect naturally to feelings, kindness, or nature themes you may already be covering.
  • Send a page home for family time — it's an easy, screen-free way to extend the day's theme without extra prep on your end.
  • Let coloring be optional and un-graded — the books work best as an invitation, not an assignment, especially for kids who color outside the lines (literally).
